Wake Forest

Wake Forest boasts historic homes, buildings & new developments

The Town of Wake Forest is a mere 20- minutes north of Raleigh. It has experienced considerable growth as one of the first satellite communities to be expanded in the 1990s by the burgeoning Research Triangle. The population expanded to 46,000 by 2021.

Wake Forest really had a forest at one time. In 1832, Dr. Calvin Jones purchased a large tract of timber-covered land in Wake County, which became known as (surprise!) the "Forest of Wake" - and ultimately, Wake Forest. Dr. Jones sold the land to an institute that became Wake Forest College.

In 1959, the college moved to Winston-Salem where it remains today as Wake Forest University. The land the prior college rested upon is now occupied by Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Wake Forest is replete with many Victorian mansions and new residential developments. Residents continue to enjoy the benefits of regional growth, with plenty of opportunities for shopping, cultural events, sports and recreation. Nearby is the popular Falls Lake State Recreation Area boasting 26,000- acres of land and the 12,000-acre Falls Lake.
