Knightdale

A place to put down roots and build your life, career & family

Knightdale is one of the fastest-growing communities in the Triangle area. Its motto, "Start Something," sends a message to all: This is a place to come to, to put down roots, and to build your life, career, and family. And Knightdale is vibrant and energized, boasting the youngest median age (30.8) in Wake County.

Incorporated in 1927, the area wasn't much more than a crossroads and a post office. The majority of early residents were farmers. But as nearby cities grew, more people settled in Knightdale because of the easy access to the capitol city.

In 2010, Knightdale's population was 11,400, but between 2010 and 2021, the population surged to 19,435 or a growth rate of 71%, making it the second-fastest growing community in the Triangle.

Today, Knightdale residents are doing well. In 2021, the median household income reached $69,684 compared to the statewide $54,609. With easy access to points east and west, courtesy of Highway 64, residents enjoy a great location with a half-dozen parks and greenways, community activities, and plenty of retail opportunities.
